Man, It Feels Like Some Physical Girls Again

As an intrepid investigative reporter I thought that it was high time that I answered the question that has been foxing the brightest and best minds since time immemorial: are the die-cut sleeves of Physical Graffiti and Some Girls interchangeable?

Under strict scientific conditions, isolating variables and all that tosh, whilst wearing a white lab coat* I set out to solve this mystery and see if the bands had colluded in order to send an encoded message to the twenty-first century.

I think you will all agree that the results are astounding! -ly dull. How dare our rock heroes release LPs three years apart that don’t intricately mesh with each other to create an elaborate message to future generations? What were they doing for their own entertainment back then? they didn’t even have dial-up. Fools!

Not to be put off I chucked Pond’s 2015 opus Man It Feels Like Space Again into the mix and it’s blend of colourful die-cut psychedelia was just the ticket^.

(click to make them enormous and beautiful)

There’s probably a deeply meaningful insight into the human condition here, but I don’t want to be too obvious and say it out loud, man, so you’ll just have to work it out for yourself.

Man it does feel like space tonight.

1024 Down (still).

PS: For anyone unfamiliar with the Pond LP (as was I before Bruce Connection hooked me up), here it is – not my photo this one.

*nothing else at all; not for reasons remotely related to the post, it’s just how I happened to be dressed.

^it sounds great too, for any weirdoes out there who actually play their LPs.

  1. I was in the back yard yesterday smoking a big cigar with the oldest son (he was chuffing on one also. Good to see my habits rubbed off) and we were playing Battleship and listening to ‘Graffiti”. Does that mean anything?
I have a few of these type jackets. I never put them back together properly.

    1. Apart from a Foreigner greatest hits these are the only real die-cut LPs I have (apart from ones designed to show picture discs off). You must have more surely Bruce?

    1. In order to sound mysterious and wise I shall merely nod my head sagely and ask whether an answer to a question as yet unasked, can ever truly be called an answer?

I should start a benign cult. Again.

    1. Is there a Kennedys one with a cut-out sleeve?

Good call though, I did listen to ‘Give Me Convenience’ the other day. Might do that one next Zack.
