8 minutes 46 seconds is a long time.
As an experiment today, I knelt on a rolled up blanket for that length of time. I would argue that anything over about 2 minutes ceases to be a casual endeavour, it requires an exercise of will and determination to ignore the discomfort in your own body, prioritising the transference of that force, that discomfort, to another object.
Try it.
Kamasi Washington ‘Miss Understanding’. It is 8:46 long and it sounds furious yet dignified to me tonight.
8:46.
This is the 3rd jazz cut I have been nudged to in the last while. Ornette Coleman”s ‘Peace’. Herbie Hancock’s ‘I Have A Dream’. Good stuff fella.
Was watching Discovery channel on demand tonight and they did it with just George Floyd on the screen and 8:46 is a long time
I don’t know. That number will stick in my head for a long time. I hope I’m not misquoting Ice T when I say…
Never mind.
Well said, sir.
Thanks Bruce.
I read an article in Atlantic magazine today where a writer had done exactly the same, but in a far more usefully scientific manner.
The Kamasi Washington piece just fitted.
